Seminar on Possibilities of Renewable Energy Sources Implementation

Solar Energy 2023

Zagreb, The Antunović Congress Centre, 18 May 2023

The Sunny Side of the Street is Not so Far

The main difficulty in the solar energy implementation is the weakness of the relevant state authorities for the creation of a legal framework and the slowness of issuing the necessary documentation, which significantly complicates the realization of projects. This is one of the conclusions of the second seminar in this year on the possibilities of renewable energy sources implementation, which was dedicated to solar energy and was held on 18 May in Zagreb.

There is no shortage of interest in solar energy, so only in the first three months of this year, the distribution system operator received requests to connect new solar power plants, as in the whole 2022 year. On the other hand, it can take 6 - 8 months to connect the constructed PV plant to the grid.

To increase the use of solar energy, a high-quality and stable legal framework, educated and trained installers are definitely necessary. Also, incentives for the installation of solar power plants for citizens and small entrepreneurs should be continuous and more visible. At the same time, investments in PV plants are very quickly profitable in the current time of rising energy prices.

Energy cooperatives were also discussed at the Seminar, possibilities of synergy between energy and agriculture in agrophotovoltaic plant projects were presented, it was explained what aggregation means in the 'new' energy and an excellent example of Križevci as a city dedicated to energy transition was showed.
